Hi all,
I hope I can get some assistance here. I re cently replaced the sound in my laptop with an external USB one. I noticed that the audio channels are reversed, with left being on the right and vice versa. Turning the headsets 180 degrees is not an option as they are not designed that way. I am using Windows Vista and my sound card is known as CMedia USB HeadPhone set when I look it up in the control Panel's sound option. Any help with this is appreciated.
It is possible that the internal card was installed wrong. You can't know if it was correct unless you go to another source and listen to a recording and see. Some effects can change the right and left, but I don't know if your USB has any. It is also possible, providing the internal card was correct, that you have the USB one upside down, or on the wrong side. Put it on the other side of the machine and correct it if it bothers you.
Well, first off, if you're installing a USB soundcard, you should disable the internal one from the device manager. I'm sure that the sound card that you purchased should have some sort of configuration software that came with it that might allow you to alter this setting. Also, as with any piece of hardware you purchase, it is always best to obtain the newest driver from the namufacturors website, which may solve problems that are currently happening with the driver provided. Usually the driver and software provided with the hardware apon purchase is extremely outdated anyway, and downloading latest driver and software may allow for more options to adjust the settings. This is the only thing that comes to mind currently. I am not familiar with that sound card, but typing the problem in google should yield some solutions because it may be a common problemm.
